Energy Conservation
The mansard roofs that extend to floor level of the upper apartments create a double wall, as does brick for the lower levels. Exterior walls are packed with insulation and have double vapor barriers. The top floor ceiling has ten inches of insulation. Each window has insulated glass, as do the balcony doors. Electric energy was selected for heating and cooling because it is the safest, cleanest, and most efficient fuel available today.

Sound Proofing
The Skogman Company used many techniques known to the industry to accomplish superior soundproofing. Trussed joists, plywood sub floors, and two inches of acoustical cement were used in each floor system to minimize the transmittal of noise up and down. Double 2 x 4 partitions separate all walls between apartments, which are also insulated to eliminate practically all side to side sound.
